Syracuse Shakespeare-In-The-Park is still accepting applications for its 2024 theatre program for students in 5th through 12th grades, the newly renamed William J. Scott Jr. KIDS (Kids Doing Shakespeare) Program.
The theatre program runs daily on July 8-12, 10 am-3 pm. Rookies and returning students learn together primarily outside Thornden Park’s Carriage House in cooperation with the Syracuse Parks, Recreation, and Youth Programs Department and funding from the Syracuse Teachers Association in memory of its past president, William J. Scott, Jr.
This exciting programming mix of speaking skills, stage techniques, costume design, set painting, Renaissance music, and English country dancing usually sells out quickly, so don't delay. All students will perform part of a scene as a culminating activity on the last Friday of our intensive and fun week of theatre.
This year's scene will be selected from our 2024 Shakespeare-In-The-Park main stage show, The Two Gentlemen of Verona (August 2-11, 2024, in Thornden Park's beautiful Amphitheatre).
Scholarships based on need are available with the approval of STA and the SSITP Board of Directors. Please indicate your request for a scholarship on the ticketing page.
Once registration is complete, all parents will be mailed an application by email.
