By Syracuse Shakespeare-In-The-Park (other events)

6 Dates Through Jun 12, 2022

ABOUT ABOUT

Syracuse Shakespeare-In-The-Park celebrates the beginning of our twentieth anniversary season with the first of two traditional, free summer shows in the beautiful Thornden Park Amphitheatre, the epic tragedy, Macbeth, June 3-12, 2022. Macbeth will be performed, as we usually do for the June show, on the center grass section near the audience, to give you the impact of the human tragedy of love and greed and the epic battles of armies clashing in medieval Scotland. Director Kelsey Hercs says “this is a play about those who become obsessed with a thought and don’t let it go. It’s what can happen if you give in to your animal nature.” Director Hercs continues “there is nothing glorious about Macbeth’s descent and downfall. I want the audience to feel— 'My God, that could be me. I don’t want that to be me.'
